How it works
How does the weighed quote work?
A weighed quote is a price set from the scale reading of your own strand. We price agarwood by the gram, and every strand weighs something different. So instead of a price tag, you get a video of your strand on the scale, in 4 steps.

First, pick a bead style, the bead diameter and your wrist size. Then the product page writes the request for you.

2. We weigh your strand on camera
Next, we pick a strand in your size, put the strand on the scale and film the reading. So you get the video, the exact weight and the price for one strand.

3. You approve — or ask for another
For example, do you want a darker strand or more angles? Then just ask. We charge nothing at this stage.

4. You pay, we ship
After that, we send an invoice through PayPal for the approved strand. Once you pay, we pack and ship the strand from the video.
Why is agarwood priced by weight?
Agarwood sells by weight because its value sits in the resin, and resin is heavier than plain wood. Aquilaria trees form the resin only after wounding, according to Tan et al. (2019), so the amount differs from tree to tree. In practice, two strands of the same style and bead size can differ by several grams. For example, a strand at 0.95 g/cm³ weighs 58% more than the same strand at 0.60 g/cm³. A fixed price would have to ignore the difference.
So we put your strand on the scale, film the reading, and quote from the number you see. As a result, you pay for the wood you actually get, not for an average. Also, the weight lets you check our claims: divide the weight by the volume of the beads, and you have the density. Most strands float, and we quote the rare sinking strands separately. Finally, anyone can read a scale, while nobody can check a grade label.
When is a sale final?
A sale is final once you have approved the weighing video and we have shipped the strand. The reason is simple: the video records exactly the strand you are buying, with its weight on the scale. For example, until you pay with PayPal, you can still ask for another strand, more angles or no order at all. After shipping, two problems stay on us. First, if the parcel arrives damaged, send photos within 7 days of delivery, and we replace the strand. Second, if the strand does not match its video, send photos within 14 days, and we send the correct strand. Finally, this policy does not affect your statutory rights. What can we change on custom beaded bracelets?
A custom beaded bracelet is a strand we string to order for one buyer, so some choices are yours. First, the wrist size: we set the bead count so the strand fits your wrist. Second, the bead size, from the sizes each style comes in. Also, on a mixed strand, you can ask us to move a stone bead or swap one bead type for another, as long as we have suitable beads. Just write the change in your request, and the weighing video shows the result before you pay.
However, some requests fall outside our work. We do not engrave, carve names or make pieces from a drawing. Similarly, we do not add metal parts that a style does not already have. For example, a buyer who wants an engraved bracelet will do better with a local jeweller who engraves.
How do you check the density yourself?
Density is the weight of a strand divided by the volume of its beads. Water sits at 1.0 g/cm³, so any wood above that figure sinks. Step 1: take the weight from your weighing video and the bead size from your quote. Step 2: enter the bead size, count and weight in the calculator below. In practice, most strands float, because plantation agarwood in our density model runs from 0.60 to 0.95 g/cm³. However, sinking strands are rare, and we quote them separately, on request.

Assumes round beads. Measure the diameter with calipers if you have them — a 0.5 mm difference changes the volume noticeably.
Density tells you how heavy the wood is for its size. Still, density is a measurement, not a grade. Finally, use the number to check what a seller said, rather than to rank strands.

Who is behind Oudbracelet?
Oudbracelet is the retail shop of AgarwoodTown, an agarwood business in Guangdong, China.AgarwoodTown has traded since 2014. The parent business supplies oud oil, bakhoor, incense and wood to other businesses.Oudbracelet, by contrast, sells bracelets and small pieces to individual buyers. So here we sell one weighed piece at a time, and every strand ships from China. In practice, a buyer here deals with one strand, not a trade order. Agarwood comes from Aquilaria trees, a genus that has sat in CITES Appendix II since 2004. Also, we cut every bead from plantation wood, never from wild trees. The weighing video, the scale and the density check all serve one aim: a price you can verify.
Is the wood wild or plantation?
We cut every bead we sell from cultivated agarwood. In other words, we do not sell wild-harvested wood.
Why do we weigh every strand for you?
A weighing video is the proof behind every Oudbracelet quote. A price tag on a strand of agarwood is always a guess, because two strands of the same size never weigh the same. So we weigh the exact strand you will receive and film the scale reading. Then we quote you for that strand alone. First, the video shows the strand you will wear, not a stock photo. Second, the scale shows the weight in grams, with no rounding to a grade. Finally, you can check the numbers yourself with the density check above. For example, divide the weight by the bead volume, and compare the result with water at 1.0 g/cm³.
