Terms of sale

You see your exact strand on the scale, on video, before you pay.

Who are you buying from?

Oudbracelet is the retail shop of AgarwoodTown, an agarwood business in Guangdong, China, trading since 2014. In other words, the team that weighs, films and ships your strand is the team you buy from. For example, AgarwoodTown supplies oud oil, bakhoor and incense to businesses, while Oudbracelet sells bracelets and small pieces to individual buyers.

Our wood is plantation agarwood only, never wild-harvested wood. Also, we string each strand to your wrist size and bead size. However, we do not engrave, carve names or make pieces from a drawing. See what we can change before you ask.

How does an order work, and how are prices set?

An order is a weighed quote that you approve first. The four steps run in this order:

  1. First, you send a request for a style, with your wrist size and bead size.
  2. Next, we pick a strand, weigh it and film it on the scale. Then we send the video, the weight and the price.
  3. After that, you approve the strand or ask for another one. Nothing is owed at this stage.
  4. Once you approve, we send a PayPal invoice. Finally, after payment, we ship the strand from the video.

Prices follow weight, so the site lists no fixed prices. Each quote applies only to the one strand in its video. Therefore, a quote for one strand does not carry over to another strand of the same style. See the full walk-through on how the weighed quote works.

What do the pictures and meanings on this site show?

Every picture on Oudbracelet is a picture of a style, not of your strand. Some styles appear in studio images and some in real photos of our stock. The strand you buy is the one in the weighing video you approve, so the video settles any difference in colour or grain.

Where a page describes what a bead shape or a charm means in Chinese bead culture, Oudbracelet passes the meaning on as culture. In other words, a traditional meaning is not a promise of any effect, and nothing on this site is medical advice.

How do shipping, final sale and your data work?

Shipping is from China, and the export paperwork for agarwood follows CITES rules; the shipping page has the details. Also, once you have approved the video and we have shipped, the sale is final. The final sale page covers damage in transit and a strand that does not match its video. Finally, we use your contact details only to answer you and to ship your order, as the privacy page explains.

Does this affect your legal rights?

No. These terms do not affect any rights you have under the consumer law of the country you live in. For example, the European Union and the United Kingdom give online buyers a 14-day withdrawal period in most cases, under Directive 2011/83/EU and the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013. The final sale page explains how that sits alongside our weighing video. If anything here is unclear, write to us before you order.
